The Colorado Collective Leadership Initiative

Bringing health in reach for all Coloradans, because it takes all of us to move mountains.

Partnering for Better Health

The Colorado Health Foundation is bringing health in reach for all Coloradans by engaging closely with communities across the state through investing, policy advocacy, learning and capacity building. We believe investing in the development of strong, diverse, and dynamic leaders is essential to create fair opportunities for those in which health is furthest from reach.

Over the past 50 years, we’ve worked with organizations of all sizes from around the world, including more than 2/3 of the Fortune 1000. Our cutting-edge solutions are steeped in extensive research and our work with hundreds of thousands of leaders at all levels.

About the Initiative

The Colorado Health Foundation is a champion for health equity – when there are “no unnecessary, avoidable, unfair, unjust, or systemically-caused differences in health.”

Despite increased focus on health equity in recent years, Colorado communities continue to experience unfair and worse health outcomes. Even now, low-income residents are more likely to have asthma because of poor building quality and pollution from nearby freeways and factories.

The Colorado Collective Leadership Initiative (CLI) is a newly-created leadership development program that is sponsored by the Foundation and informed by community perspectives. CLI was designed by the Center for Creative Leadership to prepare individuals to be collaborative, systems-change leaders working together to tackle issues related to health equity across the state.

Who can apply?

CLI brings together individuals – regardless of job title, skill level or experience.

We encourage individuals from underrepresented or historically excluded groups in Colorado to apply, such as people of color, low-income communities, and rural communities. This includes individuals in formal and informal leadership roles across sectors.

What matters – you are tackling real, pressing health equity challenges within your community.

The program is FREE to participants and includes a $5,000 stipend.

What you will Learn

Local community members and leaders will gather in a common virtual or
in-person space to learn together.

Over the course of the journey, participants will:

  • connect with and learn from community leaders throughout the state.
  • share resources (tools, insights, and techniques) to advance health equity.
  • work together on a common health equity challenge.
  • build their leadership capabilities through world-class facilitation and coaching services by the Center for Creative Leadership.

This includes learning eight key leadership capabilities:

The goal of the learning experience is to cultivate diverse, adaptive leaders who prioritize health, exercise influence and work across boundaries to strengthen community connections and action.
